COLUMBUS — The Morning Journal is a finalist for six awards in the annual journalism competition sponsored by The Associated Press Society of Ohio in Division III, for newspapers with a circulation between 13,000 and 24,999.
Editorial Page Editor Dan Smith is a finalist for Best Editorial Writer, Photographer Nate Parsons for Best Spot News Photo, reporters Kelly Metz and Megan Rozsa for Best Blog, The Morning Journal for Best Community Service, Copy Editor Celina Hutchens for Best Full Page Layout and The Morning Journal for Best Web Site.
The finalists’ actual order of finish — first, second and third places — will be announced May 15 at the APSO convention in Columbus, along with the General Excellence, First Amendment and Special Recognition award winners. Entries were judged by editors from the Hibbing (Minn.) Daily Tribune and the Jersey City (N.J.) Journal.
