Just want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers, advertisers and staff!

This Thanksgiving we at The Morning Journal have a huge reason for giving "thanks." That's because this year we got a welcome chance to "re-energize" and catapult to the leading edge of the newspaper industry, along with our parent firm Journal Register Company.
The spark was the arrival of John Paton as the new CEO of Journal Register Company. Paton brought the "digital first" style of giving our readers the news as it is happening, digital first, online and via social media, and then delivering the most complete, authoritative report available in print.
Digital first and all that goes with it, is the best thing I've seen to give the newspaper business a new lease on the future.
For someone like me who has spent four decades in love with an increasingly ailing newspaper business, it is a complete thrill to be part of this healthy new digital first initiative.
Being able to share in this future-making among a talented, energetic and fired-up newsroom staff that I admire greatly is something to celebrate on Thanksgiving.
